The words go-brahmana-hitaya indicate that the Supreme Lord is especially concerned with the welfare of the cows and the qualified brahmanas (spiritual teachers). The Lord is concerned with everyone’s welfare, but the cows are especially dear to Him.

But kali yuga is so degraded and we are so unfortunate that one of our seven mothers: Go māta is being slaughtered just to satisfy our tongues. 

In the Bhāgavatam, King Parīkśit himself protects a cow from being harmed by a black man. Thus it is evident how important cow protection is. Not only the milk acquired from cows, but cow dung and cow urine, are required in all ritualistic ceremonies performed according to the Vedic directions. 

“Cow urine and cow dung are uncontaminated, and since even the urine and dung of a cow are important, we can just imagine how important this animal is for human civilization. As long as human society continues to allow cows to be regularly killed in slaughterhouses, there cannot be any question of peace and prosperity”.

                 (Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam ŚB 8.8.11 Purport)

In our temple at HKM Bhilai, many cows are given protection and are taken care of nicely. Cow protection needs to be understood and helped by everyone, then our efforts in caring for our mothers will be fruitful which would in turn satisfy the Supreme Lord.
